Wax is a form of cannabis concentrate that is opaque in appearance. Unlike shatter or live resin, which is transparent and generally see through, wax’s molecules crystallize as a result of agitation. Wax is extracted from cannabis in a similar manner as shatter, using a solvent such as butane or propane and extracted in a closed loop system. The exact consistency of wax can vary widely, mostly due to the texture of the oil before purging. Wax has subcategories such as budder, honeycomb or crumble, which simply refer to the texture of the end product. Budder is more creamy, crumble is crumbly, and honeycomb is a golden solid. Heat and moisture during the extraction process also play a role in what consistency the final product will have. Wax is best enjoyed dabbed through a rig or in a concentrate pen or vaporizer. Wax is also very easy to handle, especially budder, making it an excellent choice which is sought after by many cannabis experts and connoisseurs.
